Annibale Ruccello Award

The Festival del Teatro Contemporaneo Italiano (Festival of Italian Contemporary Theater), held yearly in Positano, asked Tramontano to design and produce the symbolic prize. The award, which takes its name from the great Neapolitan dramatist Annibale Ruccello, acknowledges the most significant figures of Italian avant-garde theater, especially those just emerging.

The object itself is meant to represent the encounter of art with high-quality craftsmanship, and Davide de Blasio invites different artists year by year.

For the first series of the Annibale Ruccello Award (2001-2004) a theatrical mask in leather was made in the Tramontano workshops, a genial invention of Mimmo Paladino’s. For the second series the prize is designed by Lello Esposito.
